Victoria Meads, Content Editor - UK-CMA

Victoria Meads

Content Editor

Victoria began learning piano and violin at the tender age of 6, playing in orchestras and taking exams on both instruments, before moving on to study singing in her teens.

Since then, Victoria has performed with function bands, cabaret acts and theatre shows, all over the world - including taking on the female lead in ‘The Magic of The Musicals’ in Dubai and at the Royal Westmoreland Resort in Barbados.

She has toured with bands and shows across the UK and been privileged to sing regularly at venues such as The Dorchester, Claridges and Sandringham House.  Victoria held an entertainment residency at Centerparcs UK for many years, and ran her own children’s party company, as ‘The Singing Princess’!

When she’s not performing, writing or recording, Victoria spends her days teaching piano, violin and singing to a wide age-range of students.

In recent years, Victoria has become best known as one half of the award-winning duo ‘Tennessee Twin’, alongside her husband Geoff, touring Nashville and the breadth of the UK. They have performed at events such as The British Country Music Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Buckle & Boots, CarFest and C2C Festival (Country to Country) at London’s O2.

Victoria is honoured and excited to be a volunteer and founder member of the UK-CMA.

Mark Dare, Playlist Curator - UK-CMA

Mark Dare

Playlist Curator

Music has always been the soundtrack to Mark’s life, but up until Covid came along he was completely unaware of the plethora of brilliant music being produced by UK country and Americana influenced artists.

Since hearing a selection of these by chance in 2020, and being hugely impressed, he’s sought out as much as he can find. It also triggered him to start producing country radio programmes, having already chaired all genre shows on air for a couple of years.

Country Over Easy is a 2 hr weekly worldwide music show celebrating rising talents alongside stadium fillers.

British Country Music Show is a 1 hr weekly programme focussing on artists born, or resident, on our green and pleasant lands.

The shows now play out through several stations in the UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, Germany and Australia…but he’s always up for sharing elsewhere too…the audience is never too big!

He can be found at many festivals (generally on the barrier) and can also be seen at gigs in the London area and beyond because live music is always a fantastic experience.

If you ever see him, give him a shout!

Tony Thornton, Membership Secretary - UK-CMA

Tony Thornton

Membership Secretary

Born in Epsom, Tony has lived in Surrey, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Hampshire and Victoria (Australia, not central London) before ending up in Lancashire.

After getting in to the pensions market, quite by accident, Tony decided to make a career out of it and spent the next 40 years in various back office roles, including general administration, project management, trustee and secretarial functions, culminating in a position as Director and Head of Administration for a local actuarial and consultancy firm. He finally gave it all up for a less stressful life in 2016.

With his wife Gill (who, much to her chagrin, is still working) and two boisterous cocker spaniels, Jasper and Benji, he rarely finds himself twiddling his thumbs. He was, most recently, the secretary of a local charity (now, sadly, winding up because of a shortfall of volunteers), a role he also undertook for a charity in Australia. He also acts as “the expert” at the local library, helping those who want to research their family history.

A recent convert to the world of camper vans, Tony, Gill and the boys enjoy travelling around the country, experiencing places and sights previously unknown to them. When time permits, overseas travel with “Vicky the Van” beckons. The first port of call will probably be the Isle of Wight!

Beyond all this he is an avid fan of Portsmouth FC and watches them from the comfort of the settee whenever he can. The stress levels can easily come back.
